SURPRISES POP-UP PERFORMANCES21 July – 9 September
Surprising and delighting, these free, secret performances will be London’s ‘wow’ moments of 2012. Keep your eyes peeled for these extraordinary one–off events around the city centre which pop–up without warning, taking over and transforming some of London’s most iconic landmarks.
Some of the surprises lined up for summer include:
• On One Extraordinary Day in July, Brooklyn’s visionary choreographer Elizabeth Streb and her team will thrill London with a stunning series of daredevil feats that push the human body to the limits. Somewhere between free–running and dance, gymnastics and circus, Streb’s company create electrifying, high-octane shows that leave spectators dumbstruck.
• In To Be or Not To Be award–winning actor Mark Rylance brings some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters and most stirring speeches to life. Fifty actors will fall into conversation with passers–by bringing pop–up moments of wonder to everyday London.
